Abstract

By using a trigonal hetero-donor linker 4,4′-(4,4′-bipyridine-2,6-diyl) dibenzoic acid (H2L), two 3-periodic coordination polymers (CPs), namely {[Cu(L)(MeOH)](MeOH)2}n (1) and [Sr(L)(EtOH)2]n (2), with different interpenetrated motifs have been effectively produced under solvothermal surroundings. The X-ray single-crystal data solution and refinement results showed that CP 1 comprises of a fourfold interpenetrated SrS2-type topological structure, and compound 2 comprises of a 3D twofold interpenetrated ThSi2-type topological structure, which are controlled by their metal ions used. Furthermore, the morphologies of the two CPs could be reduced to nanometers via a green hand grinding technique. In connection to these, we studied the cytotoxic activity of the nanostructures 1 and 2 against two human glioma cells A172 and U251 via the MTT assay.
