Abstract

A new method has been developed for the synthesis of 2-(1-arylalkyl)-1,3-benzoxazoles by coupling of arylboronic acids with 2-(5-iodo-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)phenols. The proposed cascade process involves intermediate formation of 2-(1-diazoalkyl)-1,3-benzoxazoles and their reductive C–C coupling with arylboronic acids. The procedure requires no transition metal catalysis and provides up to 67% yield of the target products.
