Abstract
A novel metal-free transannulation reaction of readily available N,3-diaryloxirane-2-carboxamides has been demonstrated as a simple efficient route to 3-arylquinolin-2(1H)-ones. The reaction involves one-pot acid-catalyzed Meinwald rearrangement and intramolecular Friedel–Crafts alkylation processes. This novel approach features not only metal-free bond formation but also an exclusive 1,2-aryl migration.
