Abstract

Abstract A new sulfimide, 1,3-propyl-N,N-bis(dimethyl)sulfimide, has been synthesized by the condensation of dimethylsulfoxide with 1,3-propanediamine. Thermally, this is a most stable sulfimide. Its mode of coordination towards platinum(IV), palladium(II) and iridium(IV) ions and the thermal behaviour of the chelates are discussed on the basis of data collected from elemental analysis, electrical conductance, infrared and electronic spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermogravimetric analysis.
