Abstract

The stability of the supported Ru(CO) 2L x ( I) and Re(CO) 3L y ( II) species (L = surface O 2−, OH −) generated from Ru 3(CO) 12 and H 3Re 3(CO) 12 clusters, respectively, is known to play a role in the formation of small metal particles [1]. The present paper discusses how experimental conditions affect species I and II and thereby the genesis of the metallic ruthenium and rhenium particles.
