Abstract

Abstract: Metal ceramic substrates based on direct copper bonded alumina ceramics are compared to active metal brazed silicon nitride in terms of their thermal cycling capabilities. Thermal cycling is utilized as an accelerated fatigue test for the lifetime prediction which is an important aspect for the design and ampacity optimization of highly reliable power modules in the renewable energy and transportation segments (e.g. inverter of wind turbines, main inverter in electric vehicles).
