Abstract

Metabolism of topical endosulfan in the Indian honey bee,Apis cerana indica F., was studied. The two endosulfan isomers were found to be interconvertible in bees. The products of metabolism were endosulfan sulfate, diol, ether, hydroxyether, lactone and two unknown compounds. Endosulfan diol, hydroxyether and lactone were found to be conjugated in excreta of the treated bees.
