Abstract

The aim of the study was to investigate the incidence of metabolic syndrome (MS) among patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), its association with the disease course and lesions of the cardiovascular system. According to the NCEP criteria 161 patients with RA were examined and MS was diagnosed in 40 (25 %) patients. It was established that MS in patients with RA was associated with C-reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor - alpha (TNF-α) disease activity scale (SHAH28). Among patients with RA and MS increase diastolic and systolic dysfunction, increase index left ventricular mass.
