Metabolic Support of the Thermally Injured Patient

Abstract

Nutrition Support Pharmacist features issues pertinent to the practice of clinical pharmacy in the area of nutritional support. This article provides a summary of our approach to the nutritional management of the thermally injured patient. However, it must be pointed out that there are other alternative effective evidence-based approaches to managing this problematic patient population. There are numerous exceptions to the above outlined guidelines that the astute clinician must be able to identify. However, for the beginning reader, this approach will provide a sound foundation upon which to build their practice in the management of these difficult patients.
