Abstract

1. 1. O 2 consumption rates of Diaptomus dorsalis and Mesocyclops edax were determined at 10, 15, 25 and 30°C. 2. 2. Rates increased significantly with temperature in both species, but Q 10 S indicated that both had slight metabolic compensation to temperature within the 10–30°C range, especially between 25 and 30°C. 3. 3. Rates of D. dorsalis were lower than published rates of congeners from northern populations at similar temperatures.
