Abstract
In this issue of Cancer Cell, Jones etal. demonstrate that LSCs are metabolically inflexible. LSCs rely on amino acid metabolism to fuel oxidative phosphorylation and cannot compensate with other fuel sources following amino acid depletion. Combined venetoclax and azacitidine reduces amino acid uptake, partly explaining the anti-LSC effects.
