Abstract
Goldman-Pinkovich et al. have shown that intracellular stages of Leishmania actively sense arginine levels within the phagolysosome of the host macrophage and activate a MAP kinase-dependent response when arginine is reduced. This response may impact macrophages responses as well as being required for parasite intracellular replication.
