Abstract

At we start publishing the next volume of Neurogastroenterology and Motility, the numbers of submissions continue to increase. In 2008, and continuing in the submissions for 2009 to date, the journal is receiving approximately one paper per day. The Editors observe that, in spite of increasing numbers, the quality of papers that are submitted to Neurogastroenterology and Motility is steadily increasing, and this is a key factor in the choice for trying to publish as many papers as feasible within the available page budget. To balance this growth with the page budget, the ‘Materials and Methods’ section of all original papers is available as online supplements only, from May 2009 onwards. With the increasing quality of research that the journal publishes, the additional experiments or analyses that are requested for manuscripts with a decision of ‘resubmission after major revision’ have also become more extensive. Times for resubmission have therefore been extended to 4 weeks for minor revisions and to 6 months for major revisions. The next Joint Motility Meeting will be held in Chicago in August 2009. The success of the previous joint meetings have established these as the key scientific event for all researchers and clinicians in the field of Neurogastroenterology and Motility. We look forward to seeing you in Chicago this summer.
