Abstract
Various aspects of the concept of a hierarchical structure of materials are analyzed with a view to practical applications. It is shown that the principal complications can be removed if the hierarchical structure is represented by a block diagram that contains a block of mesoscopic layers. One way of theoretically describing the structure of mesodisordered media is demonstrated.
