Abstract

The meson spectra and couplings of heavy quarkonia are studied in the relativistic quark model. The matrix elements of meson couplings are evaluated exactly in terms of energy plane wave amplitudes. The leptonic decay widths and pseudoscalar form factors are calculated. The electromagnetic decay rates are found in agreement with recent experiments after considering the one loop QCD radiative corrections. We find that the small-small component of the positive and negative energy solution in the canonical representation couples the P-state with the F-state. The exact calculation by taking the contribution of the F-state in the calculation of the electromagnetic decay rates Γ(2++→ γγ) raises the value of R= Γ(2++→ γγ)/Γ (0++→ γγ) significantly.
