Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of the students studying at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Kazim Karabekir Education Faculty in Ataturk University, and Turkish Music State Conservatory, towards Individual Instrument Courses. In this context, various demographic characteristics of students’ attitudes towards individual instrument course were examined. This research is important in terms of determining students’ attitudes towards individual instrument course. The research is qualitative and is designed in the relational survey model, which is one of the descriptive research methods based on quantitative data. In order to determine the attitudes of 164 students who compose the study group towards the individual instrument course, a personal information form that determines the demographic characteristics of the students by an attitude scale was used. As a result of the research, it was determined that students’ attitudes towards individual instrument courses were generally positive and their average attitude level was medium. In addition, considering the demographic variables; it was concluded that there was no significant difference in the appropriate environment, age and education of father variable, but there was a significant difference in the variables of gender, faculty, education of mother and instrument.
