Abstract

In the treatment of femoral hernia in adults, the Mc Vay method which is conventionally the method for inguinal heria has been performed so far. It can not be afforded to say that the frequency of postoperative recurrence has decreased as yet. This paper presents adult cases of femoral hernia which were successfully operated on by using the mesh plug method. The operative procedures included that the hernia sac was reversed after an approach via inguinal method, and fixation of the inserted mesh plug was performed, followed by reinfocement of the femoral ring by a flat mesh. No recurrences have been noted in all cases at present. We think that this procedure will take the place of Mc Vay method in future, because it is easy and offers a good quality of life to the patient after the operation.
