Abstract
We are pleased to be given an opportunity to reply to Dr A. Banarjee's letter. In his letter he discusses the differential diagnosis of a Merkel cell tumour and quite rightly includes primary cutaneous carcinoid tumours, amelanotic melanomas and lymphomas. We are happy to confirm that in this particular case the classical features of a Merkel cell tumour were demonstrated. Unfortunately, the brevity of a case report did not permit a full description of the tumour.
