Abstract

Spatial OLAP (SOLAP) integrates spatial data into OLAP and Data warehouse systems to exploit the analysis capabilities associated with geographic information. SOLAP extends OLAP operators to navigate into spatial dimensions and to slice the spatial data cube using spatial predicates. The integration of several heterogeneous spatial data cubes is particularly useful for decision-makers since it enables them to navigate into multiple data sources. In order to exploit the continuous dimension of spatial data, we propose a new operator for merging spatial data cubes without conformed spatial dimensions. Our operator is based on the spatial analysis transformation called “Overlay”. We show its implementation in the Web-based SOLAP System GeWOlap.
