Abstract

Abstract The mercury- and cadmium-photosensitized reactions of γ-butyrolactone have been studied. The gaseous products obtained in the mercury-photosensitized reaction were carbon dioxide, cyclopropane, and propylene. On the other hand, the products obtained in the cadmium-photosensitized reaction were carbon monoxide and ethylene.
