Abstract

In this paper, the design of a L-Band prime focus reflector and corresponding feed for a 2.4m Medium Earth Orbit Local User Terminal (MEOLUT) is presented. The MEOLUT is known for its application of providing support for Search and Rescue (SAR) through Medium Earth Orbit Search and Rescue (MEOSAR) satellites. The configuration of MEOLUT consist of a reflector antenna with septum polarized choked horn feed system. The entire feed system is installed at the foci of the reflector antenna. The intended central L-Band feed has a good circularly symmetric co-pol patterns and isolation better than 15 dB at the required frequency. This element provides cross–pol better than 20dB at the required receiving (1.545 GHz) frequency.
