Abstract
The values and benefits of introducing undergraduate research to the college curriculum are both recognized and advocated in the literature. Although the community college environment may not appear to be favorable for undergraduate research projects in STEM fields, a dynamic and visible group of students, who take their path extremely seriously, requested and enthusiastically participated in these projects. Since summer 2015, we have mentored and co-mentored more than 15 students who were participating in funded, year-long research assignments or 6-week project-based learning opportunities. This experience was equally invaluable for our students and for us. The Appendices contain sample topics for students' projects.
