Abstract

Water washes from the aerial parts of Calamintha ashei provided, besides the known monoterpenes, menthofuran, (+)-epievodone and (−)-calaminthone, the new (+)-desacetylcalaminthone. The molecular structure and absolute configuration of desacetylcalaminthone was determined by single crystal X-ray analysis of its p-bromobenzoate derivative. Chemical correlations and chiroptical methods permitted determination of the absolute configuration of (−)-calaminthone and (+)-epievodone.
