Abstract
A brief overview of the historical relationship between psychology and linguistics is presented within the context of the 100th anniversary of the founding of psychology by Wilhelm Wundt. With regard to the study of language, the authors argue against the autonomy of linguistics or psychology and reaffirm the need for a unified discipline for psycholinguistics in the tradition established by Wundt.
