Abstract

Objective To test the validity of the Mental Health Scale revised version 2005(MHS V2005)as a tool for use in the general population. Methods The 1183 samples of general population completed a questionnaire regarding socio-demographics, MHS V2005, Self-esteem Scale(SES), General Self Efficacy Scale (GSES)and Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90). The samples of mental disorders were 100 patients with mental disorders that met CCMD-3 criteria, who completed the MHS V2005. Results(1)Confirmatory factor analyses showed that the RMEA of the model of Mental Health Scale was 0. 11, the GFI, NFI, CFI were higher than 0. 85. (2)Criterion-related-validity: the correlation coefficient between the score of SES and the score of every first-order factor, second-order factor and the total score of the MHS were ranged from 0. 1 82 to 0. 456, and those of GSES were ranged from 0. 110 to 0. 4897(P<0. 01)(3)Comparative study between the group of the general people and the group of psychiatric patients showed that all of the score in the group of psychiatric patients including the firstorder factors, second-order factors and the total score were significantly higher than those in the group of the general people(P<0. 01).
