Abstract

This year marks the end of the first of the National Service Frameworks (NSF) for health and social care. The NSF in question was for mental health for adults of working age in England. Published in 1999, it set out a 10-year vision of what the NHS was expected to offer in terms of mental health care, using seven standards ranging from the promotion of good mental health and primary care to specialist services and support for carers.
