Abstract

ABSTRACTMenstrual cups are a reusable product with the potential to improve menstrual management among poor women and girls in Zimbabwe. Fifty-four sexually active women, aged 19–45 years, from Epworth district in Zimbabwe were trained and consented to use a menstrual cup. The majority (81%–100%) did not experience discomfort during cup insertion or during their daily activities and did not experience leakage while using the menstrual cup during three menstrual cycles. Our pilot study shows that women in a low-resource setting can accept and correctly use menstrual cups as an alternative and reusable menstrual care product.
