Abstract

Abstract Meningococcal disease is a significant health problem worldwide. The spectrum of acute meningococcal disease varies widely from fever and occult bacteremia to fatal sepsis and shock with (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). 1 Immune complex mediated complications during the subacute phase like reactive arthritis and thrombocytopenia are also reported. 2 Here we present a case in a 2-year 9 months old girl who presented with fatal meningococcal sepsis with ARDS needing mechanical ventilation who also developed reactive arthritis and immune thrombocytopenia during the subacute phase. Co-occurrence of ARDS, reactive arthritis and immune thrombocytopenia as a result of meningococcal disease has never been reported before.
