Abstract

ABSTRACT Yohanes Berkmans Agung Tulirani. IMPROVE OF LEARNING ACTIVITY AND ACHIEVENT THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF THE COOPERATIVE LEARNING MODEL OF THE JIGSAW TYPE IN THE GRINDING TECHNIQUE SUBJECT MATTER OF THE STUDENT IN CLASS XI TM-A SMK BHINNEKA KARYA OF SURAKARTA IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2016/2017. Skripsi : The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, June 2017. The objectives of this research are to get the successfulness : (1) in the improve of the learning activity in the Grinding Technique subject matter of student in Class XI TM-A SMK Bhinneka Karya of Surakarta trought the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type ; and (2) in the improve of the learning achievent in the Grinding Technique subject matter of the student in class XI TM-A SMK Bhinneka Karya of Surakarta trought the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type. This research used the classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycles consisted of four phase : planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subject of research were the student in class XI TM-A SMk Bhinneka Karya of Surakarta. The sources of research data were observation sheet on the learning activity and the test of achievement. The data of research were collected through test i.e. written test items non-test i.e. students’ learning activity observation sheet during the implementation. They were validated through content validity for the data obtained through test and construct validity for the obtained through non-test. The result of research shows that the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type can improve the students’ learning activeness as indicated by the result of observation. Prior the treatment, only one indicator of learning activity fulfills the target. Following the treatment with the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type, 2 indicators fulfill the target in Cycle 1, and all of the indicators fulfill the target in Cycles 2. Furthermore the student’ average score of learning achievement also improves. In the pre-cycles which use the lecturing method the completeness of the learning achievement is 40,62%. Following the treatment with the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type, it becomes 53,12% in Cycles I and 84,37% in Cycles II respectively. Conclusion the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type can improve the learning activity and achievement in the Grinding Technique subject matter of the student in class XI TM-A SMK Bhinneka Karya of Surakarta.
