This frequently fuels researchers to spend countless hours combing through dusty documents and yellowed newspapers, tracking down tidbits of information, and interviewing elderly residents. One of the hallmarks of local history (and perhaps its greatest limitation) is the tendency to accentuate the positive aspects of a beloved hometown.
