Abstract
The development of purpose-built multicomponent data acquisition systems based on MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) digital accelerometers has resulted in improved data quality, more efficient field operations, and diminished multicomponent acquisition costs. This, coupled with advances in processing and interpretation of converted-wave (PS) multicomponent seismic data, has renewed enthusiasm for using multicomponent data to address issues poorly resolved by P-wave information alone.
