Abstract

100Green energy systems based on photovoltaic (PV) cell arrays is the need of the hour, as well as for the future. Recently, its popularity has soared owing to the support the technology has garnered because of its reliable designs. Focus is on PV dye-synthesized solar cells (DSSC) not only due to high electric conversion efficiency and low production cost but also its recently detected behavior as a memristor. Memristive behavior of DSSC allows using it as a sensing device. The sensed output enables identification of faulty cells in otherwise regular DSSCs. This chapter presents a memristive DSSC model. Identification of faulty DSSC in DSSC array is based on a search algorithm, the offshoot of which is DSSC cell testing in the presence of faults. The method for increasing the diagnosis accuracy is also described.
