Abstract

The cinema produced by the Japanese immigrant Hikoma Udihara, for over 30 years, is a record of the first decades of colonization in Northern of Paraná. The content – a little more than 10 hours of images – constitutes essence of the memory and identity in the region. A file which, in spite of private and institutional efforts for its maintenance, is vanishing and deteriorating quickly. For this reason, urgent action is required for recuperation and preservation.
