Abstract

In this review some issues in the domain of human memory research are discussed. Recent neuropsychological data on topics such as declarative memory, procedural memory and episodic retrieval of information are highlighted. A plea is done to use other modalities in memory research, e.g. olfaction, than auditorily and visually presented stimuli alone. Functional imaging in which visuospatial and verbal working memory tasks are used have been reviewed. The role of the double dissociation paradigm in memory research has been stressed, especially in the convergence of data from neuropsychological studies and imaging studies.
