Abstract

Abstract You can use the different memory systems in your brain together when learning and retrieving information. Using multiple memory systems will create strong and long-lasting memories. When you want to use episodic memory to remember the details of an event you are experiencing, pay attention to information coming through your senses into sensory memory. When you want to learn new semantic memory information, try manipulating the information in working memory. This manipulation will help to form a strong episodic memory that will, in turn, help you to form a long-lasting semantic memory. To acquire a new skill, use your episodic memory to learn the instructions that will eventually be internalized in your procedural memory.
