Abstract

In this part of Isaak Kobylyanskiy's “Memories of War,” the author continues to share with the readers his recollections of several events from his own war experience along with some reflections on those and related events. There are three articles in the Part 3. The first one tells how the author beacome a member of the Soviet Communist Party and describes the role of the military political workers in the war. The second article “About the Germans” concerns not only author's different attitude to the Germans as a whole and to German individuals, but also describes a few terrible incidents of some Soviet soldiers’ sexual assault in East Prussia. The Author's conclusion is “…war is indeed the most awful thing in existence.” In the third article the author expresses his view on patriotism and solidarity among the multi-ethnic ranks of Soviet troops as two important factors in the victory over the Nazis.
