Abstract

ABSTRACT This memoir briefly relates the writer’s experience as a Sovietologist and member of the Canadian Association of Slavists. It includes his interactions with some of the founders of both Slavic Studies in Canada as well as of the CAS itself. Several notable and eccentric personalities were encountered in the course of the author’s career. Much has changed in the Association over the years, but its spirit of fellowship and genuine collegiality endures. As a past president, the writer salutes the CAS on its 70th anniversary and anticipates a thriving future.
