Abstract

This article is part of an ongoing investigation into the writing of architectural history in Colombia, initiated in 2014. The focus is to remark about how this history was written throughout the 20th century and early 21st century. The starting point was the construction of a basic bibliographic of 218 titles, which configures the actual state of the art in terms of publications on the subject. The titles included were classified according to the publication year, in three major chronological periods: first and second half of the 20th century and the first decades of the 21st century. In addition, the thematic classification includes the following fields: urban history (67 titles), general history (15 titles), colonial architecture history (24 titles), republican architecture history (20 titles), modern architecture history (35 titles) and monographs (56 titles). Based on the results of this classification, 26 publications were highlighted in some detail, either because they were early advances, because they were the first to deal with specific thematic fields or because they represented a turning point in the course of the writing history. This view allows presenting some conclusions about the chronological and thematic development of editorial production centered on this field of study.
