Abstract

Effects of point disorder and columnar defects on the magnetotransport properties of Bi-2212 single crystals have been studied using flux transformer tecnique. The melting transition in BSCCO crystal is found to be very much dependent on oxygen content. The vortex lines are correlated below the crossover field and becomes uncorrelated above this. However, the columnar defects couple all the layers establishing the phase coherence between the layers. This interlayer phase coherence persists up to field much above the matching field.
