Abstract

The melting maximum in the case of alkali metals is studied. It is found that the melting maximum occurs at 21.5, 76.5, 72, 377, and 86 kbar for Cs, Rb, K, Na, and Li, respectively. These results are in good agreement with the structural bcc-fcc transition at room temperature that occurs at 22, 70, and 110 kbar in Cs, Rb, and K, respectively.
