Abstract

Crystals of Cu x Ag 1− x InSe 2 and CuIn yGa 1−ySe 2 have been grown from the melt by a liquid-encapsulated Bridgman-Stockbarger method after in situ synthesis from the elements. Values of x and y equal to approximately 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 0.9 and 1.0 were chosen for the elemental starting compositions. Electron microprobe measurements at the 15%-fraction-solidified point for each crystal indicated only weak segregation effects. p-Type conductivity was observed in all cases except x = 0 and x = 0.25.
