Abstract

A case is reported of sclerosis occurring in one rib and unilaterally in a vertebra. The similarity of this condition to melorheostosis is discussed and argument adduced to relate this condition to the creeping periostitic form of leontiasis ossea. Significance is attached to the occurrence of this lesion in a somite of the trunk as distinct from the more usually affected limb bud.
