Abstract

This study replicates the alleviation of jet-lag with melatonin in a simplified protocol for eastward flight. At 22- n hr ( n is the time-lag between the North American departure point and France), subjects took either melatonin (8 mg, n = 15), or placebo ( n = 15) on the day of the return flight and for 3 consecutive days. On day 8, self-ratings significantly discriminated between melatonin and placebo for global treatment efficacy, morning fatigue, and evening sleepness.
