Abstract

Melanopsin is a photopigment expressed by certain types of retinal ganglion cells that mediate non-image-forming visual functions, such as circadian photoentrainment. In this issue of Neuron, Sonoda etal. (2018) reveal how melanopsin also regulates the sensitivity of conventional image-forming vision.
