Abstract

Abstract.—The presence of melanotic cells in the dermis is known with the term of dermal melanocytosis. Inside this concept we find the blue nevus or the Mongolian spot. We report a 55-year-old woman that referred for 10 years the appearance of a pigmented lesion in her back, without previous lesion and without noticeable changes. The cutaneous biopsy disclosed the presence in reticular dermis of fusiform oval cells with intense pigmentation and ramified cytoplasms that were melanocytes. The dermal melanocytosis also includes certain entities rarely described in the literature with atypical cases as ours. Histopathologically are similar with melanocytes in different dermal levels. They differ for their presentation form, localization and evolution.
