Abstract

precis: Julian of Norwich has much to offer to those engaged in the work of practical ecumenism. Her written works are animated by a profound love for the whole of the church and evince a firm commitment to the church's wholeness. Her ascetical theology involves the development of charity toward others by means of receiving the grace of God toward oneself. Julian developed a theodicy by means of persistent questioning, coupled with a humble recognition of the limits that such questioning inevitably run up against, yielding a generosity of spirit toward herself and her co-Christians.
