Abstract

In this review (Curr Biol 2003 13 R831-R833), we proposed that chiasma interference might act to suppress the occurrence of two-strand double exchange events involving nearby exchanges because such double exchanges might lack the ability to ensure segregation. Since publication of this article, we have learned that a very similar model was published previously by Nilsson and Sall (1995) [1Nilsson N.O. Sall T. A model of chiasma reduction of closely formed crossovers.J. Theor. Biol. 1995; 173: 93-98Crossref PubMed Scopus (10) Google Scholar]. We regret the omission of this citation.
