Abstract

Elbow pathologies, aside from lateral epicondylitis, are relatively rare and often underestimated due to their infrequency. However, in sports medicine, the high stress placed on the elbow frequently results in discomfort arising from overuse, trauma, or degenerative changes, with the boundaries between these often being fluid. Precise diagnosis and successful treatment of elbow pathologies necessitate a thorough understanding of anatomy and biomechanics. Conservative approaches often represent the primary therapy, making effective collaboration between physicians, physiotherapists, and patients essential for treatment success. Should surgical intervention become necessary, minimally invasive and arthroscopic options are available with promising outcomes. This article discusses the most common causes of elbow pain and discomfort in sports medicine based on their location, as well as corresponding diagnostic and therapeutic options.
