Abstract
It has been become widespread in particular recently aspect about that descant is not a form or kind of poem but a form of composition in the music and murabba poem form has been called as descant because murabba was also composed in the form of descant, then briefly these might have been given name of descant altough descant has been considered as a form of poem by some researchers. This kind of poem whose first exemplaries were seen in sixteenth century developed importantly in ninetheeth century. It is known that poets like Nedim, Enderunlu Vasif, Enderunlu Fazil showed interested in descant very much and wrote a lot of descants. But in called by Kevâ‘ib-i Si‘r u Insâ of Mehmed Fevzi who lived in the end of ninetheeth century there are his 77 descants which haven’t been appeared in those knowing until today. With his 77 descants Mehmed Fevzi is ones of whose their names need calling to mind amoung ones writing descant mostly. Kevâ‘ib-i Si‘r u Insâ beeing a prose book is more different than other prose books because it includes a gazel and descant as well as verses relating to subject in the end of all matters.
