Abstract

The present paper records the occurrence of pleistocenic megamammals fossils (indeterminate Cervidae, indeterminate Toxodontinae and Eremotherium laurillardi) in a new small cave in Ourolândia municipality, Bahia: the “Toca da Pedreira”. In addition to the taxonomic identification, a taphonomic analyses was undertaken. The results allow us to suggest that the material suffered little to medium transport, by a high energy hydraulic flow, from the thanathocoenosis to the Toca da Pedreira cave, which promoted the high fragmentation of the fossils; that the fossils of E. laurillardi and Toxodontinae suffered temporal mixing; and that the fossiliferous assembly could be classified as peripheral.
